For years I lived with a severe mental‑health condition and felt that prescribed medication only made things worse. At times it seemed like the technology around me and even people close to me were part of a conspiracy of silence—I felt isolated and misunderstood. Instead of giving up, I started exploring my experiences through a blend of science‑fiction‑like imagery and personal reflection. I worked hard to find alternative ways to cope with the intrusive thoughts and sensations that once overwhelmed me. With support from a small circle of people who eventually rallied around me, I stopped using substances, stayed true to myself and began to see the world clearly again. This journey taught me that recovery is personal; what didn’t work for me might work for someone else, and vice versa.
If my story resonates with you and you’re searching for a way to navigate your own mental‑health challenges, I invite you to visit my coaching website. There I share insights from my journey and offer a supportive space where others can learn, connect and begin their own healing process.
DILLON LANE COACHING
When I look back on how I turned my life around, I know that addressing my physical health was just as important as tackling addictions and negative patterns. That’s why a big part of my Perfect Life Plan focuses on nutrition and how what you eat affects your mood, energy and resilience.
In my own recovery, I shifted away from heavily processed foods and sugary snacks and centred my meals on whole, natural ingredients—plenty of vegetables, fruits, lean proteins and whole grains. I also learned to pay attention to how certain ingredients made me feel; cutting back on high‑fructose corn syrup and reducing my reliance on refined flours helped me stabilise my energy levels. Staying hydrated and getting enough sleep were equally important.
I always encourage people to work with a doctor or dietitian when making significant changes to their diet. Everyone’s body and health history is different, and a professional can help you tailor a plan that meets your nutritional needs without unintended consequences. In my writings, I share recipes and strategies that worked for me, but they’re meant to inspire, not replace personalised advice.
Combined with the other elements of my plan—professional support, a healthy environment, realistic goal‑setting and patience—this focus on nutrition has been a cornerstone of my own healing.
